Recognizes the 175th anniversary of Wheeling Hospital, incorporated on March 12, 1850, as the longest continuously operating hospital in West Virginia

Founded by Bishop Richard Whelan, Dr. Simon Hullihen, and two physicians, with Sisters of St. Joseph arriving in 1853 to provide ministry services

Hospital expanded multiple times: from 30 beds initially to 90 beds in 1856, then 200 beds by 1914, and moved to its current Medical Park location in 1975

Achieved numerous medical firsts for West Virginia, including the state's first intensive care unit (1963), coronary care unit (1966), regional cardiac catheterization laboratory (1978), and first open-heart surgery in the area (1994)

Became a full member of the West Virginia University Health System in 2021 while maintaining its Catholic identity through the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston
