Property owners must begin removal within 15 days of receiving notice or may file a written objection requesting a hearing before the governing body

Appeals to circuit court require notice within 10 days and filing a petition within 30 days of the governing body's determination

If owners fail to comply, local governments may remove hazardous conditions at the owner's expense, with removal costs becoming a lien against the property filed with the county clerk

Contractors performing removal must leave premises in clean, level, safe condition suitable for future occupancy or construction with all excavations filled
