Counties and municipalities must provide public notice at least three months before purchasing land or buildings, including the size of the property intended for purchase.

Local governments must consider alternative property proposals from the public if they are within 10 percent of the stated specifications and located within four miles of the selected site.

Proposals must be made available to the public for 10 business days before any action is taken on the purchase.

Public notice can be accomplished through social media, courthouse posting, or other media reaching the public; newspaper advertisements are optional.

Required notice information includes date/time/location of sale, property categories, inspection period, sale method (spot bid, sealed bid, or auction), selling agency, and contact information.
