Salaries for county officials are structured across 10 county classes, with Class I (largest counties) receiving the highest compensation and Class X (smallest) receiving the lowest.

Current salary ranges (effective after June 30, 2022) span from $24,394 to $45,535 for county commissioners and $47,811 to $119,011 for other elected officials depending on position and county class.

Salary increases require State Auditor certification that the county's fiscal condition can support the increased compensation and related employment taxes.

Officials must file a written request with the county commission clerk to receive any salary increase; those who fail to file remain at pre-increase salary levels until their term expires.
