State Police retirement system members who joined on or after July 1, 2015, would gain the option to convert accrued annual and sick leave days into additional retirement service credit at a 1:1 ratio (one day credit per one day of leave)

Members who joined before July 1, 2015, retain the existing more favorable conversion rate of 2:1 (two days credit for each one day of accrued leave)

One leave day is defined as equivalent to eight hours of leave for retirement credit calculations

Retirement service credit is calculated with 20 days equaling one month of credit, remainders of 10+ days counting as a full month, and remainders under 10 days being dropped

The bill removes the current prohibition that prevented post-July 2015 members from using accrued leave toward retirement credit
