Campus police officers who elected to join the Municipal Police Officers and Firefighters Retirement System may only use annual or sick leave days accrued after their participation began for retirement credit purposes.

Campus police officers hired before January 1, 2026, may elect to participate in the Municipal Police Officers and Firefighters Retirement System but cannot transfer service credit or dollars from other retirement plans.

Campus police officers hired on or after January 1, 2026, are required to participate in the Municipal Police Officers and Firefighters Retirement System.

Officers choosing to join the Municipal Police Officers and Firefighters Retirement System cannot participate in any other retirement system offered by their employer.

Pre-2026 hires must notify the Consolidated Public Retirement Board in writing of their participation decision, with non-participants required to submit notice by December 31, 2025.
