County commission emergency medical services officers currently in the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) may elect to transfer to the Emergency Medical Services Retirement System (EMSRS) by August 31, 2026

All credited service from PERS transfers to EMSRS, with benefit multipliers of 2% for general service and 2.75% for EMS officer service (if additional contributions are paid)

Officers who elect transfer must pay the difference between their PERS contributions and what EMSRS would have required, with interest at 7.25%, by December 31, 2030 or retirement date

Asset transfers from PERS to EMSRS Trust Fund must be completed by March 31, 2027, calculated using July 1, 2026 actuarial valuations

The transfer election is irrevocable, and transferring officers permanently forfeit any future PERS benefits related to the transferred service
