Removes the 10-day annual cap on excused absences for students participating in school-approved extracurricular activities, athletics, fine arts programs, academic competitions, career and technical student organizations, and leadership programs

Requires four conditions for unlimited extracurricular absences: advance approval by the principal, written parental consent, verification of educational purpose by the supervising teacher/coach/advisor, and reasonable opportunity to complete missed academic work

Students meeting these requirements must be counted as present for attendance purposes and cannot be penalized academically for participation in approved activities

Grants county boards of education authority to adopt policies governing documentation and academic expectations for these absences, provided they do not impose numerical caps on approved extracurricular participation

Maintains the existing 10-day combined limit for personal illness absences (student or family member) that are not supported by a physician's note
