State Auditor must issue a notice of noncompliance to any county board of education that fails to submit its required financial statement within 90 days after the end of the fiscal year

County boards that remain noncompliant for more than 60 days are prohibited from receiving any discretionary state funding until compliance is achieved

County boards must file copies of their published annual financial statements with both the State Auditor and the state superintendent of free schools

Legislation is titled the "Taxpayer Transparency in Education Act" with an effective date of July 1, 2026
