Recognizes the public service of Senator Michael Andrew Woelfel, born June 21, 1954, who holds a B.A. in History from Marshall University and a J.D. from WVU College of Law

Senator Woelfel served as Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Cabell County and as a Juvenile Court Referee for the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals

Taught as an Adjunct Professor at Marshall University for more than 30 years

Elected to the West Virginia Senate in 2014, serving three consecutive terms on numerous committees including Finance, Judiciary, and Energy, Industry and Mining

Served as Minority Whip during the 85th Legislature and Minority Leader during the 86th and 87th Legislatures; will not seek reelection in 2026
