Original equipment manufacturers must provide documentation, embedded software, parts, and tools to independent repair providers and owners on fair and reasonable terms for digital electronic equipment first sold or used in Wyoming on or after July 1, 2026

Manufacturers are prohibited from using parts pairing or other mechanisms to prevent independent repairs, reduce device functionality after non-OEM repairs, create false warnings about replacement parts, or charge additional fees for future repairs

Exemptions include motor vehicles, medical devices, HVAC equipment, solar systems, video game consoles, farm and construction equipment, off-road vehicles, and electric toothbrushes

Violations constitute unlawful deceptive trade practices under Wyoming consumer protection law (W.S. 40-12-105)

The law automatically repeals if Congress enacts federal right-to-repair legislation for digital electronic equipment
