Commercial motor vehicle operators in Wyoming must demonstrate English language proficiency as defined by federal regulation 49 C.F.R. § 391.11(b)(2)

First violation results in a $1,000 fine and prohibition from operating commercial vehicles in the state until proficiency is demonstrated

Operating a commercial vehicle while under prohibition is a misdemeanor punishable by an additional $1,000 fine, up to 90 days imprisonment, or both

Highway patrol, department-designated enforcement officers, and county/municipal peace officers are authorized to enforce the law and issue citations

Effective immediately upon completion of all acts necessary for the bill to become law
