State engineer must conduct groundwater studies at least once every 10 years in counties with designated control areas where corrective controls have been ordered

Studies must assess effectiveness of corrective controls, compare aquifer recharge to water consumption, and evaluate impact of future development on aquifers

Studies may include mapping, modeling, and drilling of monitoring wells; state engineer may also study counties without control areas if deemed necessary

Results must be made public and reported to the joint agriculture, state and public lands and water resources interim committee within 60 days of completion

Appropriates $500,000 from the general fund for the initial study, which must be completed by June 30, 2030; funds available through June 30, 2031 and cannot be used for other purposes
